Kaede Matsushima

Kaede Matsushima (松島かえで, Matsushima Kaede) is a Japanese model, actress and former adult video (AV) performer who had a long career as a top AV Idol. She was described as a "Japanese superstar" at Allmovie.^[2]

Life and career

Matsushima was born on November 7, 1982 in Fukuoka Prefecture, Japan. She made her AV debut at age 19 in May 2002 with the video Virgin Love for the Media Station Cosmos Plan label.^[3] She is quoted as saying about her debut "I became an AV actress because this is not something I can do later in my life".^[4] In another interview she says she got into AV work to financially help her boyfriend who was an AV director.^[5] She has also said that she started just because she wanted to buy a car and travel abroad.^[6]

In September 2002, she had a role (credited as 松島楓 Matsushima Kaede) in director Yutaka Ikejima's pink film Delivery Health Girl: The Moisture of Silken Skin^[7] which won the 9th Place Best Film award at the 2002 Pink Grand Prix ceremony.^[8]

Alice Japan

After a few more videos with the Cosmos Plan and h.m.p. studios in 2002 and 2003, Matsushima retired but returned to the AV industry and began her long association with the Alice Japan company in December 2003^[9] in Sexy Butt.^[10] Matsushima remained with Alice Japan for nearly four years making about one original video per month before releasing her retirement work Kaede Matsuhima's Official Retiring Performance - Smile, Last Message in November 2007. The 4-hour video included favorite scenes from her older works and interviews, all in the new thinner censorship mosaic standard.^[11] The studio had earlier in 2007 begun to release some of her previous work in the new mosaic in their Alice Pink File series.^[12][13] Her work at Alice Japan was recognized by a number of industry and media awards including a 3rd place award for Best Body at the 2004 X City Grand Prix Awards.^[14] She also was the recipient of several honors from Video Boy magazine. Her Video Boy awards were Best Body first prize in 2003, the Nice Body 3rd place prize in 2004, the 4th place Best Actress Award in 2004, 5th place Best Actress Award in 2005, and the First Place Idol Award in 2004.^[15]

While at Alice Japan, Matsushima also starred in the 2006 kunoichi erotic action V-Cinema movie Yōen Kunoichi Den - Murasame Hen (妖艶くノ一伝　～紫雨（むらさめ）篇～) directed by Yoshikazu Katō and released in Japan by GP Museum.^[16] The video was released in the US by Switchblade Pictures with English sub-titles under the name The Naked Sword in November 2008.^[2][17][18]

Also released during her time with Alice Japan was the July 2006 video and game Kaede Matsushima Cosplay Sexy Yakyuken, a striptease version of "yakyuken" or "rock-paper-scissors" where she removes an article of clothing whenever the player wins. The title was released in UMD format for the Sony PSP by Gebet.^[19] In December 2006 Matsushima was in a similar project, All Star Yakyuken Battle, where she was joined by fellow AV actresses An Nanba, Kaho Kasumi, Akiho Yoshizawa, Mihiro, Ran Asakawa, Rei Amami, Sora Aoi and Yua Aida. The game and video were released for the PSP and in Blu-ray for the PS3.^[20][21]

Comeback

After a year away from the AV industry, Matsushima announced her return in her August 2008 blog^[22] and her first work with her new studio S1, Sell Debut Risky Mosaic, was released in October 2008.^[23] After a dozen videos with S1, in November 2009 she began making videos with a new company, IdeaPocket.^[24] In July 2010, Matsushima announced her retirement from AV work^[25] and her last original video for IdeaPocket, Fellatio Juicy Lip, was released in August 2010.^[26]
