Karrueche Tientrese Tran (/kəˈruːtʃi tiːənˈtriːz træn/ kə-ROO-chee tee-ən-TREEZ TRAN; born May 17, 1988) is an American actress and model.
Early life
Tran was born in Los Angeles, California.[4] Her mother is Vietnamese, and her father is Jamaican. Tran first attended high school at Fairfax High School before switching schools and later, graduated from Birmingham High School in 2006.[5]
Career
Tran began her career in the fashion industry as a personal shopper. From 2009–2012 she worked at Nordstrom located at the Westfield Topanga mall in Canoga Park, CA. After her spell in retail, Tran worked as free-lance celebrity stylist in Hollywood. She first gained fame when she began dating R&B artist, Chris Brown.[6] She posed as the face of Lady Crooks, the women's division under the streetwear brand Crooks and Castles for their Summer 2013 collection.[7] Tran was also featured in the Spring/Summer 2015 lookbook for Korean-based athletic brand Le Coq Sportif.[8]
Tran has also appeared on the covers of Rolling Out,[9] Flaunt Magazine,[10] Ouch Magazine, The Hundreds,[11] Cliche Magazine, Bleu Magazine[12] and Annex Magazine. In June 2015 Tran had two feature stories on ELLE.com.[13][14]
Tran is also featured in volume one of the photography book, Love West Coast Girls by celebrity photographer Mike Miller.[15]
Tran currently co-stars as Vivian Johnson in the Emmy award-winning web series The Bay The Series. She also appeared in the TV One movie The Fright Nite Files (2014) and 3 Headed Shark Attack in the Summer of 2015.[16] Tran has also gained recognition for her performance as Vanessa Ivy in the fashion web series by StyleHaul titled “Vanity” which is sponsored by the makeup brand Maybelline.[17] In 2014, Tran hosted the BET Awards red carpet and multiple events during the official BET Weekend. Previously she co-hosted the BET show 106 & Park.
Tran is currently signed to Wilhelmina Models LA[2] and is managed by Jacob York[18] of Electric Republic.[3]
Personal life
Karrueche Tran is primarily known for her on-again, off-again relationship with R&B artist Chris Brown. The couple briefly broke up when Brown reconciled with his ex-girlfriend, Barbadian singer and songwriter Rihanna. After their relationship ended, Brown and Tran got back together as a couple. Tran broke up with him after deciding to go their separate ways.[19]
