Kathikund is a community development block that forms one of the administrative units of Dumka district, Jharkhand state, India. It is located 23 km from Dumka, the district headquarters.
Geography
Kathikund, the eponymous CD Block headquarters, is located at 24°21′32″N 87°25′11″E / 24.35889°N 87.41972°E.[1]
Demographics
As per 2011 Census of India Kathikund CD Block had a total population of 71,458, all of which were rural. There were 35,598 (50 %) males and 35,860 (50 %) females. Scheduled Castes numbered 1,753 and Scheduled Tribes numbered 45,406. Population below 6 years was 12,841.[2]
Literacy
As per 2011 census the total number of literates in Kathikund CD Block was 31,703 (54.09 % of the population over 6 years) out of which 19,074 (61 %) were males and 12,629 (39 %) were females.[2]
As per 2011 census, literacy in Dumka district was 61.02.[3]Literacy in Jharkhand (for population over 7 years) was 66.41% in 2011.[4]Literacy in India in 2011 was 74.04%.[5]

Missionaries
New Life Foundation[6] has been working in this CDC for the past 10 years and have contributed majorly towards the upliftment of the indigenous tribal community by providing them with Education, Healthcare and Job Oriented Skill Development, The Mission also has a care home for poor and abandoned children, New Life Academy is the only English Medium School in the area providing education from Pre-Nursery to Grade Eight. New Life Mission Hospital and Rehabilitation Center[7] started to providing healthcare and rehabilitation service to the community in 2015.
