Kathleen Teresa Ganley (born 1978) is a Canadian lawyer and politician who was elected in the Alberta general election, 2015 to the Legislative Assembly of Alberta representing the electoral district of Calgary-Buffalo.[1] On May 24, 2015 she was sworn in as the Minister of Justice and Minister of Aboriginal Affairs for the province of Alberta.[2] On February 2, 2016 six new members were sworn in to Alberta's Cabinet, and Kathleen Ganley retained the role of Minister of Justice and Solicitor General for the province of Alberta. The department of Aboriginal Relations was renamed to Indigenous Relations, reflecting the preference of Indigenous communities, with Richard Feehan appointed Minister of Indigenous Relations.[3]

Life and career

Ganley grew up in Edmonton before moving to Calgary.[4] She graduated from the University of Calgary faculty of law in 2012. As a lawyer, she specialized in labour and employment.[4] She also worked as a clerk in a provincial court.[5]
