Kelly Arthur Anthon (born April 24, 1974) is a lawyer, city administrator, and Republican member of the Idaho Senate. He was appointed in July 2015 by Governor Butch Otter in order to fill the seat vacated by Dean Cameron, who resigned a month prior to head the Idaho Department of Insurance.[1][2]
Early Life
Anthon was born in Burley, Idaho on August 4, 1974 to Clyde Carl Anthon and VerLynn (Ward) Anthon. He was raised on a family farm near Declo, Idaho, where his family has continuously operated a farming business since the early 1900s.
Education and Career
Anthon attended the Declo public schools and graduated from Declo High School in 1992. Anthon then graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Anthropology from Brigham Young University in 1998, and from the University of Idaho College of Law in 2002. He began practicing law soon after he graduated from law school.[3] In 2003, Anthon was appointed Rupert City Attorney by Mayor Audrey Neiwerth becoming the youngest appointed city attorney in the State of Idaho at the time. That same year he was also appointed as city attorney for the cities of Minidoka, Idaho and Acequia, Idaho.
Personal life
Anthon and his wife, Joelle (Rogers), have 5 children. They reside in Declo, Idaho.[3]
