Before turning Republican, Sikkema was a liberal Democrat, serving State Senator John Otterbacher as his Chief of Staff and Campaign Director of Otterbacher's run for the US Senate seat occupied by Republican Robert Griffin. He later served as a Democratic campaign consultant on numerous Democratic campaigns ranging from local office like county commissioner to Democratic nominated State Supreme Court Justices. He later switched to the Republicans when he decided that the Democratic Party offered no career path in West Michigan. Public Sector Consultants: Ken Sikkema
