Khyber Pakhtunkhwa High Speed Railway

The provincial government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and China Communication and Construction Company Ltd signed an MoU to implement a Circular Railway project.[1] The project is worth 1.6 billion dollars. The speed of the train under the project will be 220 km/hour.[2]

This railway would link Peshawar, Nowshera, Mardan, Charsadda with a future expansion to Swabi. A speedy service from Peshawar to Islamabad is also under consideration. The project would have the room to be further expanded to areas and commercial hubs and industrial zones throughout the province. This project is expected to resolve the transportation problems, generate jobs leading to the overall economic revival of the province.[3][4]

Special Assistant to CM for Transport, Malik Shah Muhammad Wazir and Country Head of China Communications & Constructions Corporation, Ltd Mr. Waing Xiaoping formally signed an MoU in a ceremony held here at Chief Minister’s Secretariat Peshawar.[5]
