Kiss Me Deadly is a 1981 studio album by the then recently formed English New Romantic band Gen X.[2][3] The band consisted of Billy Idol on lead vocals and rhythm guitar, Tony James on bass guitar, James Stevenson on lead guitar and Terry Chimes on drums. The album also features contributions from several guitarists from the post-punk London music scene who were at that time between bands and acted as session musicians before Stevenson's permanent status in the Gen X was decided upon, viz. Steve Jones, John McGeoch, Danny Kustow and Steve New.[3]
Kiss Me Deadly failed to secure a place in the UK Album Chart,[4] and its only single release Dancing with Myself reached only #62 in the United Kingdom's Singles Chart on its pre-release in 1980 (although it was later a hit for Idol as a solo artist). Gen X broke up in 1981 after the record's commercial failure.
