Labanya Dutta Goswami (26 October 1952 – 17 October 2009) was an Assamese writer, poet, playwright, composer, lyricist, social worker and feminist activist. She was also the principal of Bangalmara HS School.Apart from the above-mentioned charmed qualities, her self-composed mellifluous songs have been aired by all India radio during different times.

Health Issues

Her health deteriorated since 2003 and she started becoming physically weak n frail. She often had to undertake to and fro journeys for her check ups in AIIMS, New Delhi. But this hurdles did not weaken her spirit of writing, instead gave her a reason to continue her passion and love for writing and become an example of courage and determination to many. She has contributed a good account of literary works to Assamese literature and earned praises and appreciation for it.

The following organisations like All Assam HS School Teacher-Workers Association, Indian People's Theatre Association (IPTA), All Assam Students Union (AASU), Lakhimpur Sahitya Sabha, Freedom Fighters Association, Asom Jatiya Vidyalaya, All Assam Minorities Students Union (AAMSU), Laluk Press Club, NABIK, Nata-Sainik, Lakhimpur District Lekhika Samaroh, North Lakhimpur Press Club, Bnagalmara HS School and many other organisations have highly appreciated her contribution towards the society and keeps her in memory every year through floral tribute and through words of respect.
