List of songs recorded by Lorde
New Zealand singer and songwriter Lorde has recorded songs for one studio album, one extended play (EP) and guest features. At the age of 13, she was signed to Universal Music Group (UMG) and started to write music.[1] In November 2012, when she was 16 years old,[2] she self-released The Love Club EP via SoundCloud.[3] It was made available for purchase in March 2013.[4] The EP comprises five songs written by Lorde (credited by her real name Ella Yelich-O'Connor) and Joel Little: "Bravado", "The Love Club", "Biting Down", "Million Dollar Bills", and Lorde's debut single, "Royals".[4] On the US iTunes Store edition of the EP, "Royals" is replaced by "Swingin Party",[5] a song written by Paul Westerberg and originally recorded by The Replacements.[6]
In September 2013, Lorde released her debut studio album Pure Heroine, which included "Royals". It was written and produced by Lorde and Little.[7] The extended edition of Pure Heroine also included songs from The Love Club EP, as well as a track entitled "No Better",[8] also written by Lorde and Little.[9] Later that year, Lorde covered "Everybody Wants to Rule the World" (originally recorded by band Tears for Fears) for The Hunger Games: Catching Fire soundtrack, which was released in November.[10] In 2014, she appeared as a featured guest on Son Lux's track "Easy (Switch Screens)" for his Alternate Words EP.[11] Furthermore, Lorde recorded four songs for the soundtrack of The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 1.
