Maayka

Maayka - Saath Zindagi Bhar Ka is an Indian television series that was aired on Zee TV from 15 January 2007 until 14 August 2009. The show became popular. The series has re-aired on channel Zee Anmol from 2013 to 2015. The series was originally produced by Anjana Sood's production house, Klassic Productions, but was taken over by Dheeraj Kumar's, Creative Eye Limited due to high overhead costs s and delays.^[1] Once taken over, Creative Eye replaced almost the entire cast of Maayka by ending their scene with a bomb explosion; the cast members filed a case against the channel with Cine and TV Artistes Association (CINTAA) for blacklisting them.^[2]

Plot

This is the story of the Malhorta family's three daughters— Raji, Soni and Mahi. They have a younger brother, Prince. Initially, the show focuses on the eldest daughter, Raji, who gets married to Veer, a police officer, and tries hard to adjust to the lifestyle of his family.

Initially Mahi loves Jeet and due to some misunderstandings and also due to Mahi's love for Jeet, everyone thinks that Jeet loves Soni, but it is later revealed that he loves Soni not Mahi because he is thinking Mahi as Soni which leaves Mahi heartbroken. Mahi even tries to commit suicide.

After that Durga calls Mr. Sareen (her sister's husband) to create a tough time for the Malhotra family. Mahi becomes a model and Sareen's son, Shabad falls in love with her. In order to save her family from Mr. Sareen , Mahi marries Shabad. Then a bomb explodes at the Malhotras' house, killing Raji and most of her family. The only people that survive are the two younger daughters Soni and Mahi.

After their "maayka" (parental home) is destroyed the girls have to struggle for survival. Mahi is married to Shabd Sareen. At time of their marriage Shabad thought that Mahi was a professional model. But on his honeymoon he finds out the truth. And for him this marriage is a cheat and he starts hating Mahi. Soni, through a twist of fate, gets married to Veer, even though she and Jeet (Veer's younger brother) are in love. Then Shabad's Tau Ji and Tai Ji arrives and they play an important role in making Mahi and Shabad become close. Meanwhile Mahi finds out that what is the reason behind Kamya's (Shabad's sister) crazy behaviour. Kamya's father burned her mother alive in front of Kamya as Kamya is loving someone and Shabad's mother is supporting her but Mr. Sareen is against the marriage. Mahi exposes Mr. Sareen and then after learning the truth Shabad goes into depression and Mahi takes care of him.

At this point he realises that how good Mahi is. She cared for him even he behaved very badly with her. Jeet gets married to Cherry as he thinks Soni betrayed him. Initially Cherry is soft heartened and good towards Soni and when she comes to know about Soni and Jeet her nature changes and she becomes evil. She begins to start plotting against Soni. Her hatred for Soni is increasing day by day.

Veer is killed due to the plan made by Cherry to kill Soni. Goons are about to kill Soni but Veer comes and rescues Soni . But he himself is killed in the process leaving Soni pregnant with his child. Later, Jeet marries Soni. Soni has a miscarriage due to the plan made by Cherry. Soni and Mahi's mother Mohini is found alive and she goes to live with Mahi to her in-laws house.

Misunderstandings arise between two sisters when Mohini leaves Mahi's home without telling anyone. Then both sisters blame each other for this. Mahi got pregnant. Mahi gives birth to two daughters and she gives one baby to Soni as Soni cannot conceive. But after some time she wants her daughter back as Shabad and his family thought that they have given their Lakshmi to Khuranas. Khuranas has encountered big success in business and a priest told them that this is due to Mahi's daughter 'ipshika' whom Jeet and Soni has adopted as she is a lakshmi and lucky for the family. But on the other side, Shabad has a major loss in business. So, the misunderstandings arise between the two sisters as Shabad and Mahi wants their daughter back and they even tried to take away Ipshika and run away.

At long last, the problems are resolved.
