Maisthan Mandir
Maisthan Mandir, also known as Gahawa Mai Mandir, lies in the centre of Birgunj (Nepal). This temple is believed to have been established about 200 years ago, and like the Samaya Mai Mandir of Western Nepal and the Samsari Mai of the East. It is a temple built in honour of a goddess named Mai. The temple is in attractive structure at the heart of Birgunj. It is the scene of a large festival on the occasion of Navaratra, during which many people from Birgunj and the surrounding region visit the temple to offer animals as sacrifice to the Goddess and also to keep jamara.
