Mansfield Wilkinson

Mansfield Roosevelt Wilkinson was a former Mayor of Louth in Lincolnshire and had purchased land near Manby, Lincs for recreational shooting during the Great Depression. The land had properties on it and one was named Cadwell Hall which he didn't require. It was demolished and items such as the fireplace were sold and shipped to America. One of Mansfield's sons was named Charlie and he became the secretary of Louth and District Motorcycle club and pestered his father into allowing a chalk track to be formed on the parkland. Charlie alongside two of his brothers; Norman and Wint' were keen motorcyclists and had used the land for themselves for riding and shooting. Cadwell Park opened in 1934.
