Marina Franklin is an American comedian.
Life and career
Marina Franklin was born and raised in Chicago.[1] She graduated from the University of Illinois and received her master's degree in theater from Syracuse University.[2] She moved to New York in 1997 and worked at the theme restaurant Jekyll and Hyde, on 57th Street. “It was hard work, ” she later said, noting that the restaurant had five floors and she spent most of her time running up and down. While she was picking up acting jobs in small theaters, Marina realized she wanted to do comedy, which she chose to pursue full-time in 1999.
Franklin has subsequently performed at various clubs and audiences across the world, including the Melbourne Comedy Festival, Scotland's Glasgow Comedy Festival, BBC's World Stand's Up, Rotterdam's Comedy Factory, Montreal’s Just For Laughs, Ireland’s Kilkenny Comedy Festival, and Nashville’s Bonnaroo Music Festival. Her big break came when she auditioned and won a spot on the second season of Last Comic Standing.
