Mauro Antunes Eustáquio (born 18 February 1993) is a Canadian footballer who plays as a midfielder for Ottawa Fury FC in the North American Soccer League.
Early life
Eustáquio was born in Portugal and moved to Leamington, Ontario when he was 13 months old. He returned to Portugal at 11 years old to continue in youth soccer.[1]
Career
Club
Eustáquio signed with North American Soccer League club Ottawa Fury FC in December 2013.[2] He made his debut for the club on 2 August 2014 as a replacement starter for injured captain Richie Ryan in a 2–1 loss to Minnesota United.[3] He would finish the season with eight appearances for the Fury. Eustáquio would have an expanded role in the 2015 season, making a total of 23 appearances in all competitions, including appearances in both matches of Ottawa's 2015 Soccer Bowl run. He scored his first goal for the Fury in a 4–1 win over the Indy Eleven on 8 August 2015, earning a place on the league's Team of the Week.[4] Eustáquio would add a second goal on 18 October, the lone goal in a 1–0 win over the San Antonio Scorpions. On 16 December 2015, it was announced that Eustáquio had re-signed with Ottawa.[5]
