Monita Tahalea (born Monita Angelica Maharani Tahalea; July 21, 1987) is an Indonesian singer-songwriter and producer. Tahalea is a finalist of Indonesian Idol of season 2, which had finished on Top 4.

Career

Early life and Indonesian Idol

Monita Angelica Maharani Tahalea was born on July 21, 1987, on Jakarta, to Johnny Alexander Tahalea and Brigitta Margareth Rose Tahalea. She auditioned for season 2 of RCTI’ singing competition Indonesian Idol. She finished in Top 4, behind Top 3 Firman Siagian, runner-up Judika and winner Mike Mohede.

After her eliminated in talent competition show, Tahalea had get opportunity for singing "Kekasih Sejati" which written by Indonesian musician and songwriter Yovie Widianto to entering his music album works Kemenangan Hati. A year later, jazz musician Indra Lesmana took her for sing two songs "Dibatas Mimpi" and "Kembali Satu" with Indonesian Idol finalist Nania, Micky, Glenn, Nobo, Tessa, Gaby and Marsya for collaboration album, entitled Kembali Satu.[1]

2010-2013: Dream, Hope and Faith and Songs of Praise

Her debut studio album Dream, Hope and Faith was released on 2010. In it, she covered two jazz songs: Billie Holiday's "God Bless the Child" and Judy Garland's "Over the Rainbow". Produced by Indra Lesmana, it received positive response from music critics. In addition, She had joining contributed with RAN, Endah N Rhesa, and many other to sung "Indonesia Pusaka" which listed in 100% Cinta Indonesia and also singing "Remember My Sweet Moments" which appointed as theme song for commercial Tropicana Slim.

In middle of 2013, Tahalea released her EP' Christmas album Songs of Praise with The Nightingales[2] Still same of year, Tahalea singing two collaboration songs with Eva Celia and Indra Lesmana: "Lepas" and "Maybe", which became original soundtrack to film Andriana

2015-present: Dandelion

Before released her second studio album, Tahalea had collaboration with Glenn Fredly and Payung Teduh’ vocalist Mohammad Istiqamah alias Is to singing the song "Filosofi & Logika" for listed in original soundtrack to film Filosofi Kopi. In late 2015, Tahalea officially released second studio album, entitled Dandelion on December 1[3] and produced first single "Memulai Kembali" which signed as began her career to Indonesian music industry. Due to first single reached popularity, Tahalea subsequently earning nominations for Female Singer of the Year in Indonesian Choice Awards in 2016.
