Nicholas Cheng (born August 19, 1990) is a Malaysian actor and journalist at The Star. He is known for his first screen performance as Wai Chong in Disney's Waktu Rehat.[1]

The young journalist is also known for his first altercation with protesters at the Taman Medan cross incident earlier this year, wherein he was pulled out of an increasingly angry mob by fellow Sinar Harian journalist (identified only as Jannah). The incident involved local Muslim residents protesting the prominent placing of a Christian cross over a church, which they argued would have a negative effect on the faith of Muslims in the vicinity. In his account on a report by Malaysian daily The Star,[2] Cheng was pulled to safety after the mob had allegedly become confrontational following his non-confrontational line of questioning. Among the questions he had asked them were "Who gives you the right to claim this land as a Muslim land?" and "How will a cross turn your sons into Christians?"
