Nicolas Henri de Grimouard
Nicolas Henri, comte de Grimouard (Fontenay-le-Comte 1743 – Rochefort 1794) was an officer in the French Navy.
Grimouard was a distinguished commander during the American War of Independence. He commanded the frigate Minerve when she was captured by HMS Courageux in 1781. Grimouard was wounded and taken prisoner, to be exchanged soon afterwards.
He took part to the capture of Tobago and the capture of Grenada under de Grasse.
He later took command of the 74-gun Scipion, fighting with gallantry and skill during the Action of 18 October 1782, where he was wounded. Louis XVI made him a count after the battle.
During the Reign of Terror in the French Revolution, Grimouard was guillotined in Rochefort in 1794.
