Nikolai Alho (born 12 March 1993) is a Finnish football player currently playing for Finnish Veikkausliiga side HJK Helsinki.
A product of his local side HJK, Alho came through its reserves, Klubi-04, before signing a professional contract on 2011, keeping him with the Helsinki-based side until 2014.
On 13 June 2013, he started his first league game for HJK and went on scoring twice in a 6−0 home win over FC Inter. Soon after performing well for HJK, he signed a contract that was effective until the end of 2015.
Outside football
Nikolai is also well known for making music. His cover songs on YouTube have caught the eyes of many. Nikolai's debut single "Standing Right Here" went viral on YouTube and also hit the radio stations in Finland. Even though he is considered a singer with a future, he has stated in many interviews he is fully committed to football and music is only a hobby.
Nikolai was noticed by JVG and signed a record deal with PME Records and WMG in December, 2013. His contract with PME Records and WMG ended in November, 2014. Nikolai stated that he is going to keep making music as a hobby but does not want to sign again with a major label until after his football career is over.[1]
Personal life
Alho was born in Helsinki to an African father and a Finnish mother, but was adopted by a Finnish man and an English woman when he was just five weeks old. He has never met his biological parents. In addition to Finnish, Alho is also a native speaker of English. He lives in Haaga, Helsinki.[2][3]
