Northallerton Shinty Club is a former shinty club in Yorkshire, England. They do not field a competitive team at present.
History
Northallerton Shinty Club was founded on Yorkshire Day, 1 August 2012. The club's first training session was held on 12 August 2012 on Bullamoor Park, Northallerton.
The Club were invited to join hosts London Camanachd, Scots Camanachd (see The Scots Shinty Club) and Cornwall Shinty Club at the inaugural London Shinty festival, on Saturday 22 September. The club did not manage to field a team.
The club has received some interest but is struggling to get equipment. A kind donation from Glenurquhart Shinty Club and DCR Sports of 12 shinty balls has helped, and the club are in discussions to get more funding and equipment from other sources.
The club is going to trial satellite teams in local schools, hopefully this will help create a stable base for the club in the area.
The club is one of the founding members of the English Shinty Association and will send players to represent the English Shinty Team in the 2013 Bullough Cup
Northallerton Camanachd
Shinty was previously played in Northallerton, Northallerton Camanachd, a team established in the 1970s by a man resident in the area, Richard Tulloch. The team competed regularly in sixes competitions. Tulloch went on to become the first CEO of the Camanachd Association. Northallerton Shinty Club is not a continuation of this club, and is a completely separate entity
Future
Northallerton Shinty Club are considered folded with all club's assets transferred to the English Shinty Association
