Oleh Yuriyovych Skrypka (Ukrainian: Оле́г Ю́рійович Скри́пка [oˈlɛɦ juriːovit͡ʃ skrɪpkɑ], Russian: Оле́г Юрьевич Скри́пка, Oleg Yurievich Skripka , born 24 May 1964) is a Ukrainian musician, vocalist, composer, and leader of the group "Vopli Vidoplyasova".
Biography
Oleh Skripka was born in Sovietobad (now Ghafurov, Tajikistan). His father, a radiologist, came from a village in the Poltava region. His mother, a teacher, is of Russian origin. He grew up in the Murmansk region of Russia.
In 1986, he graduated from Kyiv Polytechnic Institute. The same year was created the group Vopli Vidoplyasova (VV). In 1987, VV became a member of the Kiev rock club, won the first prize at the Kyiv rock festival "Rock-parade", released their hit "Танцi" ("dancing", or "dances").
In 1990, the group took a tour of France and Switzerland, during which time in one of the largest newspapers of France's Le Monde published material about VV. From 1991 to 1996 years of Oleh Skripka, together with his group, lived in France, and toured the country.
In 1996, returned to Kyiv and since then has been playing many concerts in Ukraine and abroad, regularly visits Moscow. In 2000, VV performed in Riga, London, gave a concert in the Moscow Palace of Youth, after that - a tour around the cities of Siberia.
In January 2002, tour of Israel and Portugal, in February of the same year, several concerts in New York, 2003- speech in Toronto. In 2004, Oleh Skrypka becomes one of the organizers of the festival "Country of dreams", the festival began its history in 10 years after the release of the song and the album CENTURIES with the same name. Under the auspices of "Country of dreams" Skrypka is also engaged in and versatile publishing and educational activities.
In 2007, Skrypka manifests outstanding dance talents and gets the second place in the project "Dances with the stars 2". In 2009, a group of activists invited to nominate Skrypka as a candidate for President of Ukraine, but he refused the nomination.
He speaks fluent Ukrainian, Russian, English and French.
In 2016, Skrypka and numerous other Ukrainian entertainers lobbied President Peter Poroshenko to ban broadcast of Russian film and music in the country, as well as banning the import of Russian film and music.
In 1990, Skrypka married a French woman, Marie Ribot, leaving her when he returned to the Ukraine in 1996. In 1997, he married Natalia Syd, the designer of many of Vopli Vidopliassova's album covers. They have four children.
