Paul L. Martin is a London-based performer and agent.

Biography

Paul L Martin has been performing in cabarets for 20 years.[1]

Martin originally trained in musical theatre at Mountview Academy of Theatre Arts.[2] and went on to work in cabaret, running agency Excess All Areas. He created the role of Philip Salon for the Boy George musical Taboo.[3] He made his New York debut in 2005 at Don’t Tell Mama.[4] He debuted in Australia in 2006 at The Butterfly Club in Melbourne.[5][6]

Martin’s debut album ‘Bein’ Green’ was released in 2007.[7]

Paul also founded both of the annual events; Cabaret Convention and London Cabaret Awards, which play host to cabaret performers, promoters, and practitioners from across the UK and Ireland and reward the most dedicated, talented and inspiring members of the cabaret community. [8]

Reviews

He has been called a "British Cabaret Icon" [4] and was named "King of Cabaret" [5] by The Stage for his contribution to the resurgence of cabaret in the United Kingdom.[9][10] Paul L Martin's variety agency Excess All Areas now produces the London Cabaret Awards.[11] In 2012 Paul L Martin won FringeReport's BEST PRODUCER award for his work in cabaret.[12]
