Paulo Rangel do Nascimento Gomes (born February 4, 1985) is a Brazilian footballer who plays for Malaysia Super League club Johor Darul Takzim II F.C. as a striker. He played for Malaysia XI against Tottenham Hotspur FC. He was suspended for 6 months after kicking the ball at a second assistant referee as well as shoving the referee in the Semi Final FA Cup 2015 against Lions XII.[1]

Career

Perak FA

In April 2013, Perak signed Rangel on loan from Muangthong United for an undisclosed fee.[2][3] On 14 April, he scored during his league debut against PKNS in the match that ended draw 2-2.[4] Paulo scored a hat-trick against Johor Darul Ta'zim as Perak won 3-0.[5]

Selangor FA

In November 2013, Rangel joined Selangor from Muangthong United.[6] Rangel made his official Selangor debut on their opening matchday of the 2014 season against T-Team at Stadium MBPJ. He scored a brace to help Selangor win 2-0.[7]

On 1 April 2014, Rangel scored his first hat-trick for Selangor against Vietnamese side Hanoi T&T in the AFC Cup.[8] Rangel scored another hat-trick in the AFC Cup on 23 April 2014 against Maziya from Maldives.[9]

Terengganu FA

On 26 November 2014, Rangel joined Terengganu from Selangor.

Johor Darul Ta'zim FC

Rangel signed a two-year contract with Johor Darul Ta'zim F.C. (JDT) on 29 December 2015, for free after becoming a free agent since October.[10] The contract signing ceremony was held at the Tan Sri Dato' Hj Hassan Yunos Stadium in Larkin, Johor Bahru, Malaysia. He replaces the now retired Luciano Figueroa, completing the club’s quota of four foreign imports and will link up with new strike partner Jorge Pereyra Díaz for the upcoming season. The Brazilian regards the 2015 Malaysia Super League champions as the best team in Malaysia and that his inclusion is ‘like a dream come true’.[11] He promised to give his best for the team in training and in every match. His Highness, the Crown Prince of Johor, Tunku Ismail who is also the royal patron of Johor Football Association stated that based on performances for previous clubs, Rangel is a player who has always maintained a good scoring record and is highly experienced in local football.[10]

Johor Darul Ta'zim II FC

During the pre-season with Johor Darul Ta'zim F.C., Paulo found out it difficult to adapt to JDT's playing style. He was then demoted to Johor Darul Ta'zim II F.C. and made his debut in a 1-3 defeat to DRB-Hicom F.C..
