Planeta Xuxa was a television program hosted by Xuxa Meneghel, directed by Marlene Mattos and broadcast by Rede Globo between April 5, 1997 to July 28, 2002. Had as its target audience family and teenagers. The Planeta Xuxa was initially presented on Saturday afternoons. From 19 April 1998, the program began to be presented on Sunday due to the World Cup 1998, remaining on Sundays until his last episode in 2002.[1]
History
It was the first Sunday program auditorium hosted by a woman in the Brazilian television, before Xuxa the dispute between audience on Sundays was carried only by men like Silvio Santos, Faustão and Gugu Liberato. The presenting Marcia Goldschmidt and Eliana followed in the footsteps of Xuxa and also figured on Sunday afternoons on Brazilian TV. The program was a success with average audience always above 21 points, often surpassing the Domingão do Faustão.
The program had discothèque format, with the participation of Paquitas New Generation, the group You Can Dance dancers, the twins Mariana and Roberta Richard (As Metralhas) and dancer Adriana Bombom.
In August 1998, Xuxa had to leave the "Planeta", because of its maternity leave, many famous singers took turns in presenting the program: Ivete Sangalo (who presented the program twice), Alexandre Pires, Gabriel, o Pensador, Daniel, Grupo Molejo, Netinho, Zeze di Camargo & Luciano, Negritude Junior, Claudinho & Buchecha, Terra Samba and Tom Cavalcante.[2]
Xuxa returned to present the "Planeta" in November 1998, the last episode of "Planeta Xuxa" aired on July 28, 2002.
