Plaza Lama
Plaza Lama is one of the main chains of shoppings and supermarkets of the Dominican Republic.
Plaza Lama is led by Mario Lama Handal and his children Mario, Teófilo, Pedro Juan, Elsa, Mary and Milly Lama Haché.
Origins
In 1929, Lama Inc. was founded in San Pedro de Macorís by Pedro Juan Lama, and his wife, Afife Handar, both Lebanese immigrants to the Dominican Republic. It was moved to Santo Domingo in the 1940s, specifically to Avenue Duarte. Mario Lama Handal created Plaza Lama and it transformed his shoe business into a chain of shops by departments, unifying inside a same establishment a large variety of products and services that cover the needs of the customers.
