Pretty Addicted is a British electronic music group formed in London in 2011. The group is fronted by Vicious Precious and currently includes bassist Harry Shavo and performer Sakura Dahmer.

History

The band was started in late 2011 by Vicious Precious (sibling to Gibraltar international footballer Anthony Bardon) and Ben Main after the pair met at a club and discussed the prospect of Ben remixing one of Vicious's old band's songs,[1] before talk shifted to starting a new project together.[2] After performing around the UK, the band signed to DWA and released their debut album, Filth, in June 2013. Problems between the two members led to the departure of Ben some time in 2013, leaving Vicious Precious the sole studio member of the band. They recruited "Dammit Dan" Heard and Sakura Dahmer to flesh out the live lineup in late 2013 as the band continued touring the UK and Europe throughout 2014 and 2015, leaving DWA and releasing their second album, It All Stems From Childhood, themselves in 2014 through an Indiegogo campaign.

The trio then resumed their live shows and returned to the studio in February 2016 to write their third album. On 14 February they released a cover of the Little Mermaid song "Poor Unfortunate Souls" as a single, followed by the release of "Choose Your Poison" after a successful crowdfunding campaign for their third album.

Musical style and image

The band has been described as a mix of electronic music, electropunk and trance, although the band principally describe themselves as "gothic dance music" or "GDM", having previously referred to themselves as "goth rave". They are influenced from a wide range of acts, with Vicious describing their main influences as Marilyn Manson and The Prodigy.[3] The band are known for intense live shows with sexual themes prevalent in their music and performances, being described as "gender-bending".[4] Vicious Precious doesn't identify with any particular gender while Sakura Dahmer is openly homosexual and this sometimes reflects in the lyrics of the band. Other topics the group cover include drugs, relationships and the members' childhoods (including Vicious's relationship with their born again Christian mother). However, on It All Stems From Childhood, drug references were reduced in light of Vicious' alleged "heart attack" in 2013.[5] Themes of style have always been character based and quirky; Vicious often seen in a bow tie and Mickey Mouse style ears.
