History

Prism Mates began as a trio trainee group that appeared in the anime 'Pretty Rhythm: Aurora Dream'. They learned to sing, dance and model for a few minutes after each episode. When the fourth member joined the group the name was changed to Prizmmy. In the next season 'Dear My Future' a new set of Prism Mates joined as Prizmmy's assistants during the "Pretty Rhythm Studios". These members, included various kid models and current member Yuka. Runa was also a part of the 'second generation' Prism Mates. These members were then changed as they held auditions and they gained 4 new members. Runa and Yuka joined the auditions and kept their position as Prism Mates. Kanon, Natsu, Hina and Mirei were the new members who joined. Momona, joined the group by winning the "Kirachalle 2012".

Prism Box and new members

In the summer of 2013, they created a group with Prizmmy called 'Prism Box'. They released their debut single 'Rainbow x Rainbow'.

Momona did not participate in their lives and only had a short scene in the MV as she was too young.

They first appeared in Prizmmy's MV 'Panpina' as back-up dancers. Then they remained as back up dancers for their lives after that.

The Prism Mates members were paired up in two and were given songs to sing. Momona was the only exception and was given a solo. These songs were later released in Prizmmy's 2nd album 'Music Goes On'.

During their 2nd Prism Box release, they gave a small scene to welcome their 2 new members Airi and Sana, who had won the Kirachalle 2013. Momona was also given her first lines to sing in this song.

Prism Mates Leaders

When the group started Mia Kusakabe was given the role as leader for the group. This was also seen when in the anime 'Pretty Rhythm: Dear my Future' her anime version was also given the leader role. She began her leader role in 2011 and instead became the sub-leader (fashion leader) of Prizmmy in 2012.

Hina Miyazaki became leader in 2013 as she was the eldest member with Runa, the second eldest as the sub-leader. Their roles ended in 2015 as they both graduated, but Hina just joined Prizmmy as a new member in Ayami's place.

Natsu Asakura became the 3rd leader of Prism Mates after Hina but she only held this role for a few months before graduating. Yuka Takayanagi who was Natsu's sub-leader then became the leader in May 2016.

The 4th leader of Prism Mates was announced during their first performance as a quintet and announced on their Twitter as well. Mirei Takahashi became the next sub-leader of the new five member group.

First group song

Prism Mates announced that they were going to have their first song that didn't include Prizmmy or duet songs. This song was called 'Zenshin Zenrei, Go my Way!' and was placed in Prizmmy's first mini album 'Love Trooper'.

Idol Students - Sub unit

In 2014, 4 Prism Mate members became 'Idol Research Students'. The song "Idol Kinryoku Lesson GO!" was sung by iRis member Himika (voice actress of Laala Manaka) and was used in the anime PriPara. The single was then released on June 17, 2014.
