Julien Bayle (born February, 1976, France) is a French electronic musician and an Ableton Certified Trainer.[1] He's also known as Protofuse[2]

Biography

Julien was born in South of France. He studied Biology & Computer Sciences in Marseille. During his studies, he worked as a techno DJ, then exploring minimal techno, influenced especially by Carl Craig.

His work explores software including Cubase 1.0 and Generator (the precursor to Reaktor). His first live solo shows took place in early 2003.[3] He designed & built the protodeck midi controller (based on the open-source hardware framework MIDIBOX) in 2008.[4]

He leads the company Design the Media. He provides Ableton Live Suite, Max for Live & Max6 training courses and is also heads workshops in Europe. He is an Ableton Certified Trainer.

Musical approach

Julien is often described as a minimalist experimental musician when he plays his ambient music performance or when he plays more syncopated IDM. He's very influenced by Autechre, Aphex Twin but also, according to his ambient music, by Brian Eno or Pete Namlook. He used to create his own tools which are often also distributed over the net.
