Rajiv Ranjan Singh (born 24 January 1955 in Nalanda, Bihar) is the Cabinet Minister for Road Construction and Science & Technology Departments in the Bihar Cabinet under Nitish Kumar.
He was nominated a member of the Bihar Legislative Council in June 2014 post his defeat in the May 2014 Lok Sabha elections. He was a member of the 15th Lok Sabha of India and represented the Munger constituency of Bihar and is a member of the Janata Dal (United) political party. He previously represented the Begusarai constituency in the 14th Lok Sabha of India. He was also a Rajya Sabha member from Bihar before elected to Loksabha. In 2014 lok sabha election he lost to Veena Devi.
Political background
He has been Janata Dal (United) state President before Bashishth Narayan Singh. He was very close to Nitish kumar. He became a member of the 15th Lok Sabha of India. He represented the Munger constituency of Bihar.
In 2014 lok sabha election he lost to Veena Devi. He became Road construction minister in Nitish kumar cabinet. He was removed by Jeetan Ram Manjhi as minister along with P K Shahi. His removal was the temporary reason of protest of Jeetan Ram Manjhi in Janata Dal (United). When Nitish Kumar became chief minister he was again inducted as minister[1]
