Richard Young is an American actor and author who has starred in film and in television. His first feature film part was in 1972. Among his best known films are the 1984 movie The Ice Pirates and in the 1985 horror film Friday the 13th: A New Beginning (as Matt). He also played a part in the opening sequence of Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade (1989) as "Fedora", the leader of the tomb-robbers who chases the young Indiana Jones then gives the young Jones his own fedora which later becomes Jones' hat.

Early life and Career

Young was born on Christmas Eve in 1955 in Kissimmee, Florida, the youngest of 7 children. His father, Trevor Young (February 18, 1922 - January 6, 1958), was a businessman who worked as a car salesman. His mother, Margaret Young (née Martin ; January 2, 1933 - December 27, 2000), was a teacher for the Florida Board of Education. He was born with Throat Cancer and had 36 operations on his throat before he was 3. His father died when he was 2 years old. He grew up living with his mother, stepfather and siblings. He attended Osceola High School in Kissimmee but later dropped out in his senior year to pursue his acting career. In 1996, he decided to take a break from acting and moved to Florida. He married a woman named Sidney in 1978 and has 5 children. Most recently, he has been the creator writer and executive producer of a YouTube show called "Off2Khali". As of 2014, Young had retired from acting and is currently living in Florida. In 1982, Young had a recurring role in the soap opera Texas as Mr. Hannibal. He also has starred in TV-movies. He has made guest appearances on TV shows, including Kung Fu, Flamingo Road, Knight Rider, and Murder, She Wrote. He also wrote books such as Workout Economics GCSE in 1987, Transport Economics Digital Textbook, The Economist's Desktop for Windows and Economics A Leven, both released in 1996.
