Rob van Kreeveld

Rob van Kreeveld (born 1941, The Hague) is a Dutch pianist.

Career

Van Kreeveld started playing the piano when he was nine years old. American jazz pianist Oscar Peterson had influenced him early on. In April 1960 he went to Germany with the Dutch Indorock group the Black Dynamites and performed professionally at rock & roll clubs. Together with the Black Dynamites he recorded a few records in Belgium for Show Records in 1963. He studied at the Royal Conservatory of The Hague from 1963 to 1967 and in 1964 he joined cabaret Pepijn with Paul van Vliet as a pianist as well as the bandleader. In 1979 he was appointed to teach the piano (jazz and light music, combo classes, rhythm section-classes) at the Rotterdam Conservatory and the Royal Conservatory of The Hague. Visiting professor in Dworp (Belgium), Helsinki (Finland), Boston (USA), Liechtenstein. He has worked with Stan Getz, Denise Jannah, Greetje Kauffeld, Joe Lovano, Joe Pass, Rita Reys, Woody Shaw, and Toots Thielemans. In 2009 he performed again with his former bandmates from the Black Dynamites, singer/guitarist Nico Fioole and saxophonist/guitarist Harry Koster. Together they performed a jazz set at the Tong Tong Fair in The Hague (Den Haag).
