The Robert S. Abbott House is the former home of Robert S. Abbott (1870-1940), founder and publisher of the Chicago Defender newspaper in 1905. It became the largest black-owned newspaper in the country and was considered to represent African Americans. Abbott became one of the few self-made black millionaires in the early 20th century.

His former house is located at 4742 South Martin Luther King, Jr. Drive in Grand Boulevard community area of Chicago, Illinois, the building earned National Historic Landmark status in 1976.[2][3][4]

Abbott lived in part of this house from 1926 until his death in 1940.[2]
