Rules Committee (Georgia House)

The House Rules Committee is a 34 member legislative body consisting of a chairman, a vice-chairman, a secretary, and 31 members. The Committee operates under a House mandate to oversee the movement of legislation from passage in committee to debate and voting on the House floor.[1]

Scope and jurisdiction

The House Rules Committee is responsible for overseeing the "flow of legislation from passage in committee and making the determination of what bills should be debated and voted on the House floor". The committee also has jurisdiction over the task of approving all guests "who are invited into the chambers of the House of Representatives to be recognized."[1]
