History

SPAMfighter is a Danish computer security company, most known for their anti-spam filter, also called SPAMfighter. The company produces other security products as well. The company was founded in 2003 by Henrik Sørensen and Martin Thorborg (also known for founding Jubii and Amino). Also Daniel Hjortholt and Martin Dyring was involved in building the company. Their headquarters are in Copenhagen.[1][2]

Technical description and history

Written in C++, SPAMfighter runs on any Windows based operating system and Mac OS X. The first Windows based compatible operating system was XP with Service Pack 3 and the first Mac OS supported was OS X Lion (10.7). Their filter is amongst other things community based with an active number of the community reports spam messages and helps with a learning mechanism of new spam mails. The individual fingerprint of mails are queried against central servers which are located in multiple locations worldwide. Throughout the last 10 years over 50 builds/versions of the program have been released with the current one being version 7.6.87.[3]

Supported clients

SPAMfighter supports the following mail clients: Outlook, Outlook Express, Windows Mail, Windows Live Mail and Thunderbird.[4]

SPAMfighter Pro received a TopTenREVIEWS Gold Award from TopTenReviews in 2014.[5]
