Sakin Sarisuri (Bengali: সাকিন সারিসুরি), also known as Shakin Sharishuri, is a Bangladeshi telenovela written by Brindabon Das and directed by Salauddin Lavlu. The 106-episode telenovela started airing on Channel i on January 27, 2009, and has yet to finish.
Plot
The plot centres on a village called Sarisuri where all the residents are thieves. The village is home to Muslims, Hindus and Christians who live in harmony, respecting and celebrating each other's creed and festivals. The village is virtually isolated from neighbouring areas because of its natives' reputation of being swindlers. The local administration is well aware of the villagers' "profession" but does not take severe legal actions because there will be political election soon.
The telenovela advances with a conflict among the villagers when the daughter of the local "mafia godfather" falls for a young thief.

Production
The telenovela première was held recently in Pubail, Bangladesh, where the telenovela is shot. The director, screenwriter, cast and technical crew celebrated the occasion with the locals and they all watched the pilot episode together.
An important aspect of the serial is solidarity among people in a multi-religious community. We often witness shameless use of religion to create divide among people in our country and elsewhere. This issue has to be addressed. A huge number of drama serials are being aired on various television channels. There are various types of incidents in those serials. For this reason, viewers are watching the serials. But sometimes, viewers take some of the serials negatively as because those do not attract them. Of those serials, some also attracts the viewers. Recently some of my dramas drew attention of the viewers as viewers have found different story and characters in the dramas. With their (viewers) inspiration, I have made my new drama serial ‘Sakin Sarisuri’ for my viewers— Salauddin Lavlu
The director is optimistic that — like his previous productions Ronger Manush, Vober Hat and Ghor Kutum — Sakin Sarisuri will also be able generate interest among a wider audience.
