Samuel Tobias Holmén (born 28 June 1984 in Annelund) is a Swedish professional football midfielder playing for Turkish Süper Lig side İstanbul Başakşehir.[1]
Holmén was born in Annelund just outside Borås, and started playing football in Annelunds IF. In 1998 he went to IF Elfsborg. After a few years in the youth squad he was promoted to the first squad, and made his debut when he came on as a substitute in the semi final of the Swedish Cup in September 2002. Since then he has been a first team regular, and he is considered to be one of the most promising Swedish footballers.Holmén's favourite position is on the central midfield, and his style of play as that of a box-to-box player, being a good defensive ball winner, as well as a good playmaker and goal scorer.
Club career
Brøndby IF
On 30 August 2007 he transferred to Danish Superliga club Brøndby IF.[2] He scored against Hungary on 10 September 2008. When multiple Danish champions, who had slipped into midfield in the league, he signed a four-year contract. He immediately established himself at his new club in the midfield and after he had hitherto always been infrequently considered by Lagerback in the national, he succeeded in his fifth international match in a 1–0 win over the Costa Rica national football team selection at a South American tour with the game-winning hit his first international goal. Held, with the reigning champions of the Royal League, for which Holmen in his first season, 23 League goals this season and three missions, he achieved only an eighth place in the table. However, the midfielder moved to Brøndby IF a cup final, in which the team met at Esbjerg fB. After Holmen had shot his colors early lead through goals from Max von Schlebrügge and Martin Retov with two goals from Soren Rieks by a 3–2 triumph in the success of the competition and the move into the UEFA Cup in 2008–09. Nevertheless, Holmen was not considered for selection at the Swedish Championship 2008 in Austria and Switzerland, however, could establish itself in the national squad after the tournament. In the 2–1 win against Hungary on 10 September 2008 during qualifying for the World Cup in 2010 he succeeded to the gate to the time between 2–0 lead hit his first competitive match in the national jersey. As he stood at his club in all 33 games of the season on the pitch and moved in with five seasonal gates at the side of Stefán Gíslason Alexander Farnerud and Jan Kristiansen as a table third behind champions FC Copenhagen and Odense BK in the UEFA Champions League 2009–10, he missed as a regular force in the middle of the country's selection of qualifying for the World Cup finals. Also in the following season he was top performers in the Danish 1st Division, although minor injuries allowed him to just 27 league operations.He has stated he would like to play in England and it was reported that Premier League club Burnley were interested in signing him during the January 2010 transfer window.
İstanbul BB
On 16 July 2010, Holmén left Danish side Brøndby IF to sign with Turkish club Büyükşehir Belediyespor. He started 100 matches in the first eleven. His contract ended in June 2013.[3]
Fenerbahçe
On 18 June 2013, Holmén signed with Fenerbahçe for a 3-year deal after successfully passing the medical tests.[4]
Bursaspor
On August 2014, Holmén was loaned to Bursaspor for 1 season.[5]
Konyaspor
On 21 August 2015, Holmén was loaned to Konyaspor for 1 season. [6]
Return to İstanbul Başakşehir
On June 2016, Holmén leaves Fenerbahçe due to his contract expired and signed to İstanbul Başakşehir for permanent deal for 2 year contract.
International career
In addition, he was national junior coach Tommy Soderberg in August of the same year appointed to the Sweden national under-21 football team selection, in which he's 2–0 victory over the Greek Junior National Team as a substitute for Andreas Johansson was first used wurde.Im rest of the season he was in Keep the selection team in the play-off matches to qualify for the U-21 Euro 2004 against the Spain national under-21 football team selection as a substitute but he sat on the bench. Magnus Haglund had also taken off after the following season as coach,Holmen was one of the permanent employees of the club. In the summer of 2004 he was part of the squad at the Under-21 Championship and received the jersey with the shirt number "8". During the tournament he came in three games for use, including the semi-final defeat against the Serbia national under-21 football team in a penalty shootout. In the playoff for third place, the 114th in a hit of Carlitos Minute of the match with a 2–3 defeat after extra time ended, he sat again only on the bench. After the tournament he was still with the team and went on with it in qualifying for the next U-21 Championship, where the team missed but as a group third behind Croatia and Hungary, the final round. In the 2006 season became Holmén at his club for regular goalscorer. Along with midfielder Anders Svensson led the season with seven gates of the internal scorers, contributing decisively to the fact that IF Elfsborg won for the first time since 1961 the Swedish Championship. Holmén was used as a late substitute for Anders Svensson in Sweden's last group game against France in the UEFA Euro 2012. Holmén had a shot in the bar and was also given a yellow card, in a match that Sweden won 2–0.
