Sarah Harrison (singer)

Sarah Harrison (born 2 September 1993), also known as SARA, is a British/Maltese artist, DJ/producer, and musician.

Life and career

Early life and career start

Born in Malta, Harrison began her career as a child hosting a children's television show on ONE TV in Malta before moving to London at the age of eleven. She attended the prestigious Sylvia Young Theatre School in London ^[1] that counts stars such as Amy Winehouse, Billie Piper and Emma Bunton amongst its former pupils. During the five years at the famous school she shared the same class with Rita Ora. Harrison appeared in three Harry Potter films.^[2] and with other selected children she had recording sessions at the famous Abbey Road studios for the Disney and Walden Media film version of CS Lewis's The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe.^[3] She also featured as one of the subjects of the Channel 4 documentary My Crazy Life.^[4] At the age of thirteen Harrison performed her first self penned song "Like A Star" before a 10,000 strong live audience at the "JESC 2003", Copenhagen, Denmark.

Harrison excelled academically at the Sylvia Young Theatre School, breaking the school's record by achieving A* grades in all ten GCSE's taken. Furthermore, she scored the highest mark in English Literature amongst a massive 364,832 candidates entered for this examination.

In 2007 Harrison won a three-year Dada award in Performing Arts at Laine Theatre Arts. Her skills and passion for musicianship truly flourished in the creation of a 30-minute-long musical "NO BALLS", writing the music and lyrics to the impressive storyline whilst acting as producer of the show. Despite studying piano religiously from a very early age, she grew to discover the potentiality of her ear's capabilities and has relied on such a prized bodily feature ever since.

2010 was the beginning of a creative era. Harrison wrote, sung and produced demo tracks with high energy. Her goal was to break the ice with her creativity in the music production evolution. "I want to share my vision with a mentor who is a top producer in the business" At the same time her biggest challenge is being female in a male dominated industry. 2011–2013: Sarah Harrison DJ/Producer and commercial breakthrough

2013 kicked off with friend Renate Putrus introducing Harrison to MegaMan, founder and creator of the legendary 'So Solid Crew.' He took an instant interest in Harrison and her thorough knowledge in Hip-Hop after having already witnessed her DJ at Skepta's 'Blacklisted' launch party. Later Harrison hosted the DJ spot for So Solid's 'They Don't Know' tour and "For the last ever" tour with special guests Wiley, Ms Dynamite, Wretch 32, Chip and Lethal Bizzle.

Releasing her first ever mix in October 2012, Harrison's passion for Trap music became apparent, so much so she was trademarked the 'UK Lady of Trap' and thus inspiring the title of her mix CD volumes ['LadyAndTheTRAP']. Her interest in this subgenre of hip-hop started from her keen ear for beat-making and obsession with the 808 drum machine, hence what makes her the dopest cross-breed of DJ/Producer. Although she specialises in this niche, her sets encapsulate the Hip-Hop/R&B umbrella quite vastly, even stretching out to the EDM culture currently making its mark in the underground rave circuit.

Harrison and Quincy Jones

Harrison's interest in producing took a dramatic turn upon sharing an inspirational meeting with Quincy Jones; the man behind the creative genius of role model Michael Jackson. From then on, she put his wisdom and guidance into play and focussed on studying the skill in her own ways. Her first break came in early 2012, when Snoop Dogg discovered her tracks on Soundcloud and personally contacted the songstress with an immediate invite to fly out to record with him while on his European summer tour. It was after hanging out with the West Coast rap icon that Harrison returned to home grounds with a burning desire to add a new skill to the table and enhance her triple threat package even further with the spontaneous mission to become the DJ/Producer she is now known as.

2014–

In September 2013, Harrison took a trip to Atlanta USA where she was the Host DJ for the International Music conference which had made new transatlantic opportunities for her. Back in the UK, Harrison became the official DJ for the hottest UK female artist, Paigey Cakey. Early this year Harrison got her self-titled weekly Wednesday radio show on Bang 103.60FM London, attracting a wide audience both in the UK and US. THE SARAH HARRISON SHOW prides itself on not just breaking records, but breaking acts across the pond, dropping exclusive tracks and interviews. Sarah Harrison trade marked "LadyInTheTrap" is a name frequently billed on line-ups for Faded, Vinyl London, Love Dough and Carpie Diem. February 2014 in New York, Harrison found herself on the set of BET 106 & Park and was invited to the Hot 97 studios by Cipha Sounds and Peter Rosenberg. Two months later Sarah Harrison becomes the first UK female DJ to feature on the world's greatest Hip-Hop station. Hot 97 released their new urban compilation The Tape Vol 1.5. #TheTape is a collection of the Hip Hop & RnB songs in the streets right now, which features music from Beyonce, Rick Ross, Future, Nicki Minaj, Drake, and The Weeknd and track 11 is an exclusive O.G Bobby Johnson Mix courtesy of Miss Harrison.
