Sarah Lang
Sarah Lang (born September 1974) was the first British champion of the ITV1 game show PokerFace, winning the jackpot of a million pounds. She was born in Newport, Wales, UK.
TV appearances
In the final, held on 16 July 2006, Sarah Lang was playing against 33-year-old Julian Sperring-Toy. Sarah had four questions right, whilst Julian only had three questions right. They went forward to do a 10-second face-off (folding). Nobody folded. The fact that Sarah subsequently won £1 million meant that Julian had lost £75,500.
She was the ninth person to win a million pounds on British television. Exactly a year earlier on 16 July 2005, she appeared on the BBC One National Lottery game show In It to Win It, winning £32,500, and in 2001 appeared on Wipeout, winning £600. Prior to Wipeout during the year 2001 Sarah Lang was a contestant on Channel 5's Greed (marketed as GR££D) with a winnings of £5000. Seen here on the UKGameshows This gives her combined game show winnings of £1,038,100, making her one of the few known people in British television history to have won over a million pounds on television, and believed to be the biggest female UK gameshow winner ever, and second overall behind Ian Woodley.
