Sashi Parvatha Reddi is a entrepreneur, venture capitalist and a philanthropist. Sashi Reddi was the CEO and founder of AppLabs. Born in Madras, Sashi Reddi is now a US citizen. He grew up in Guntur but attended boarding school at Lawrence School, Lovedale.[1]

Early Life and Education

Sashi secured a Bachelor of Technology in Computer Science and Engineering in 1987 from Indian Institute of Technology Delhi. He did his MS in Computer Science from Courant Institute of Mathematical Sciences at New York University. He obtained a PhD in Operations and Information Management from University of PennsylvaniaThe Wharton School

Entrepreneur

He established a web content management company, EZPower Systems, in 1994. This was acquired in 1998 by DocuCorp (Nasdaq: DOCC) which is now a part of Oracle.[2] Sashi also founded AppLabs, a software testing company based out of Philadelphia, US, which was acquired by Computer Sciences Corporation (NYSE: CSC) in September 2011. He was the CEO of AppLabs. Post acquisition, Reddi took over the leadership of the Independent Testing Services division within CSC and in September 2012 was elevated to lead CSC's big data and analytics business.[3]

Reddi has been an active contributor to various reputed research journals and publications,[4] apart from being a regular speaker at panel discussions on entrepreneurship, investments, growth stories and technology.[5]

SRI Capital (Venture capital fund)

Sashi forayed into venture capital space in India in 2007, with SRI Capital, a seed stage venture capital fund focused on startups in India, the US, and the UK.[6]

Yellowdig SRI capital invested $1 million in Pune-based Yollowdig, making it the 15th SaaS Startups investment.[7]

Zuppler Zuppler: Zuppler, the Delhi based online ordering platform for restaurant, raised making it a total of 15 SaaS startups in SRI Capital's current portfolio of 23 companies.[8]

WorkApps SRI Capital had invested $1 million in another SaaS company – WorkApps, which has developed a work management system.[9]

HealthifyMe Caeruz Ventures Pvt. Ltd, that runs the health and fitness app HealthifyMe, raised around $6 million (around Rs 40 crore) in Series A funding from different venture capital funds.[10] SRI Capital of Sashi Reddi invested in this app at the angel round.[11]

EureQa EureQa raised $600,000 from SRI Capital of Sashi Reddi and Gabriel Investments, a Philadelphia-based venture fund. As part of this investment, Sashi Reddi also joined the board of directors of EureQa in December 2015.[12]

YuppTV Internet television content provider YuppTV received about ₹16 crore ($2.5 million) from SRI Capital. This is the biggest investment made so far by SRI Capital and Sashi Reddi joined Yupptv board as part of this investment.[13]

Glassbeam Glassbeam, Inc, a California (the US)-based machine data analytics company, raised a funding of $2 million. Apart from participating, along with other VCs, in this round, Sashi Reddi also joined the board.[14]

NumberMall NumberMall raised USD 1 million funding from SRI Capital (Sashi Reddi)[15] for its network expansion and foray into assisted e-commerce through its various merchant network.

Oximity Oximity, a unique news website, raised funds from four serial entrepreneurs Ronnie Screwvala, Sashi Reddi, Krishnan Ganesh and Anand Ranganathan.[16]

Hello Curry Red Sprout Foods Pvt Ltd that owns and operates quick-service restaurant chain, Hello Curry, raised funds from VC funds, including SRI Capital, for its expansion. It has earlier raised Rs 3 crore from SRI Capital in the Angel round.[17]

GIBSS

Cleantech startup GIBSS raised its seed funding of up to Rs. 2.5 crore from TiE and Hyderabad-based SRI Capital, headed by Sashi Reddi.[18]

SRI Trust

Reddi is involved in philanthropic activities through SRI Charitable Trust (earlier known as ACT). SRI, set up in 2006, has been involved in community initiatives including setting up of infrastructure for schools in need, running programs to improve health and nutrition for children, adopting and sponsoring of underserved schools and children and more.[19]

Awards and Recognitions

In July 2012 Reddi was awarded TalentSprint Special Recognition Award for his collaboration and mentorship in the design of industry-led, just-in-time inventory management.[20]

Personal life

Sashi Reddi married Ashwini Reddi. They have a son.
