Jacob Seth Morrison (born February 19, 1988) is an American musician and the lead guitarist for the Christian rock band Skillet. He joined the band in April 2011.
Career
Morrison's touring life started at the age of 13 in a band called 3PO. He also assisted Ohio-based band Everlasting Fire with demos and guitar work. He has shared the stage with many well-known artists such as Disciple, Kutless, Sanctus Real, Tait, Audio Adrenaline, Relient K, TobyMac, Kirk Franklin and many more. In 2004, at the age of 16, he had the opportunity to tour Europe with the band Justifide and also did several one-offs and week runs with them in the U.S. until they eventually disbanded. Other touring acts include Our Heart's Hero, The Crabb Family, Crabb Revival & local project Everlasting Fire. Currently, Morrison is the lead guitarist for Skillet, replacing Ben Kasica.[1]
Joining Skillet
In a YouTube interview Morrison said he heard about Skillet looking for a new guitarist so he contacted his friend Tim Rosenau (guitarist for tobyMac) asking for more information. From there Rosenau asked tobyMac, however there was never a reply back from Rosenau. Later Morrison received an email from Skillet's manager, Scotty Rock, asking for photos, song covers, and Morrison's testimony. Later Morrison received a phone call from an area code he wasn't familiar with so he left the call alone but claimed he had a "felt led" to call back the number. The phone call led to the voice mail of Scotty Rock who later called back Morrison where John Cooper joined in on the conversation asking Morrison to fly out where he had only a week to prepare himself and learn the songs.
