Shirley A. Mullen is the current president of Houghton College and the first female president of the college.[6] Prior to becoming President at the Houghton College she was provost at Westmont College in Santa Barbara, California.

During her time as president she elected to sell Houghton College's satellite campus located in West Seneca, New York; this move was to shift more focus to the Buffalo area.[7]
