The Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly is the political head of the Lagos State House of Assembly.[1] Elected by the Members of the Assembly, the speaker's statutory duty is to preside over the sitting and deliberations of the Assembly.[2] The Speaker also represents the voters of his or her constituency. Since inauguration of the state house of assembly on October 2, 1979, there have been 7 legislative assemblies with 8 representative holding the office of Speaker.[3] The Speaker of the 1st Legislative Assembly is Rt. Hon Oladosun Oshinowo and the incumbent speaker is Rt. Hon. Mudashiru A. Obasa[4][5][6]
