The St. Thomas Cathedral [1] (Spanish: Catedral de Santo Tomás de Ciudad Bolívar) also called Ciudad Bolívar Cathedral[2] is the name given to a religious building belonging to the Catholic Church and is located opposite the Bolívar Square in Ciudad Bolívar, capital of Bolívar state in the Guayana region in the southern part of the South American country of Venezuela.

It is a temple that follows the Roman or Latin rite and functions as the headquarters of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Ciudad Bolívar (Archidioecesis Civitatis bolivarensis) that was created on June 21, 1958 with the status of metropolitan archdiocese by bull Magna quidemof Pope Pius XII. It was dedicated as its name implies to St. Thomas[3] at the time when the city belonged to the diocese of St. Thomas of Guayana (created in 1790).

Its tower has a height of 44 meters and has a sculpture dedicated to St. Thomas.

Its history dates back to 1790 when it was declared cathedral by Pope Pius VI with the promotion of King Charles IV of Spain. It was not completed until 1841.[4] It was formally consecrated in 1896, and between 1966 and 1986 was modified to suit the original plans.
