Steptoe and Kamiak Buttes
Steptoe and Kamiak Buttes is an 1,144-acre (463 ha) National Natural Landmark in Whitman County, Washington, designated in 1965. It includes land in state, county, and private ownership. The landmark recognizes the geology of Steptoe Butte and Kamiak Butte, comprising older rock surrounded by basalt. The buttes are outliers of Idaho's Coeur d'Alene Mountains.[1]
