Stones River Mall is an enclosed regional shopping mall in Murfreesboro, Tennessee, USA. Built in 1992, it was expanded and renovated in 2008. The mall comprises more than fifty stores, including Dillard's, JCPenney, Sears and Electronic Express as anchor stores, as well as a food court.[2] The mall is managed by Bayer Properties.
History
The first store to open at Stones River Mall was Sears, which opened in 1990, while the mall followed two years later.[3] Upon opening, the mall also featured Wal-Mart, Goody's Family Clothing and JCPenney as its other anchors. Wal-Mart moved out of the mall in 1995 and was replaced with Castner Knott, which was later acquired by Dillard's in 1998.[4] The original layout of the mall included a large central fountain. Also included near the original north entrance was an arcade known as "Aladdin's Castle", a movie theater, and a carousel.
Between 2006 and 2008, the mall underwent renovation which included the demolition of the existing JCPenney and Dillard's stores, as well as the former food court wing. The former Dillard's was demolished for an outdoor concourse, while JCPenney became a new food court.[5][6] JCPenney opened its new store in 2006 and Dillard's in 2007. Books-A-Million was also added as a junior anchor, while Goody's closed in 2009.
Sterling Organization bought the mall in 2015.[7][8]
