Stony Point High School is a high school in the Round Rock Independent School District (RRISD) in Round Rock, Texas, USA. It is the second newest of the five high schools in the RRISD. The principal is Anthony Watson, who previously served for eight years as the principal of Hopewell Middle School.

The school houses the Health Science (previously Science and Medicine), Business and Industry, Public Services, STEM, and Visual and Performing Arts Academies. Stony Point has offered the International Baccalaureate since the school year of 2008-2009.

Stony Point's feeder schools are Hernandez, Hopewell, and Walsh middle schools.

Academic and Fine Arts Recognition

In May 2013, Stony Point High School made the Newsweek list of top high schools with a placement of 1,694.^[1] The rankings are based on the total number of Advanced Placement (AP), International Baccalaureate (IB) and/or Cambridge tests that were given at a school last May divided by the number of seniors graduating.

The publications program at Stony Point has won numerous state and national awards for both newspaper and yearbook. In addition, several staff members have won top national awards as well. The Prowler newspaper and Touchstone yearbook, advised by Rebecca Plumley, have earned the Pacemaker Award from the National Scholastic Press Association and the Gold Crown from the Columbia Scholastic Press Association. Touchstone has also been honored with a "Bennie" award for printing excellence by the Printing Industries of America, along with the book's printer, Jostens.^[2]

2007 Dell-Winston School Solar Car Challenge

During the summer of 2007 a group of 4 Stony Point High School students led by student Robert Wilson competed in the Dell-Winston School Solar Car Challenge, a nationally covered solar car challenge. They named their team Solaris^[3] and designed and constructed a solar car, dubbed Diablo Del Sol, with grants and donations from the corporations Lowe's, 3M, and Applied Materials. After the 9 day race from Round Rock, Texas to Newburgh (city), New York, they placed 3rd in the Classic Division, with 451.1 miles completed at an average speed of 17.07 miles per hour.

Athletics

Stony Point is home to football, baseball, basketball, dance, cross country, golf, lacrosse, soccer, softball, swimming, tennis, track and field, ultimate Frisbee, and volleyball teams.
