Teodors Bļugers (born 15 August 1994), commonly spelled Theodor (Teddy) Blueger in North America, is a Latvian professional ice hockey forward and Pittsburgh Penguins prospect currently playing for the Wilkes-Barre Scranton Penguins of the AHL. He was selected 52nd overall in the 2012 NHL Entry Draft by the Pittsburgh Penguins,[1] making him the third-highest selected Latvian hockey player in the NHL Entry Draft, behind Zemgus Girgensons and Sandis Ozoliņš.[2]
Playing career
Bļugers began playing hockey in BHS hockey school, founded by former Dinamo Rīga player Helmuts Balderis.[3]
Junior career
In 2009 Bļugers moved to North America to play in junior leagues. He played four seasons for Minnesota State University in the NCAA tournament.
Professional career
On March 22, 2016 Bļugers signed an entry level agreement with the Pittsburgh Penguins.[4] He finished the 2016 season with Penguins AHL farmclub Wilkes-Barre Scranton Penguins playing 10 games.
International play
Bļugers represented Latvia in junior and U18 championships.
Personal life
Teodors Bļugers has a younger brother Roberts who also plays hockey.
