Teratophobia

Teratophobia may refer to either a fear of giving birth to malformed offspring or a general fear of disfigured people.[1] In its broadest sense it may also include a fear of monsters or monstrosities in general.[2] When discussed as a social phenomenon, teratophobia is sometimes viewed as a form of social discrimination and a hyponym or offshoot of ablecentrism, and when acted upon, a form of bullying, although it is common.[3] Individuals that deal with teratophobes regularly are also contrasted with attractive people, and are said to find courting difficut and also find it difficult to find a romantic partner.[4] The concept of teratophobia has also been observed as a phenomenon during abortion debates.[5]
