The twelfth season of The Bachelorette stars Joelle "JoJo" Fletcher, a 25-year-old real estate developer from Dallas, Texas.[1] Fletcher was the runner-up on the The Bachelor season 20 featuring Ben Higgins. The season premiered on May 23, 2016.[2] The season concluded on August 1, 2016, with Jordan Rodgers becoming the winner.
Filming and development
Casting and contestants
Casting began during season eleven of The Bachelorette. Days before the official announcement, Fletcher's fellow The Bachelor season 20 contestant and second runner-up Caila Quinn was originally selected to be in the lead role,[3] but she was dropped at the last minute for Fletcher by the producers and American fans of ABC's The Bachelorette.[4]
Filming commenced on March 16, 2016 shortly after the twentieth season of The Bachelor. Destinations including Pittsburgh in Pennsylvania, Uruguay, Thailand, and Argentina with appearances from Dan + Shay, All-4-One, Max Kellerman, and Marcellus Wiley.[5][6][7]
The cast includes former American football quarterback Jordan Rodgers, the younger brother of Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers.[8]

Future appearances
Christian Bishop, Chad Johnson, Daniel Maguire, Evan Bass, Grant Kemp, Vinny Venteria, and Wells Adams were all chosen for the third season of Bachelor in Paradise. Johnson was removed from the show by Chris Harrison in episode 1 for aggressive behaviour towards everyone and finished 30th, placing last. Bishop finished in 26th/27th. Venteria quit in 24th. Maguire was eliminated in 19th/21st. Adams was placed in 9th/10th. Bass and Kemp co-won the season along with Bachelor Nation alums, Carly Waddell and Lace Morris.

JoJo greets three former bachelorettes: Kaitlyn Bristowe, Desiree Hartsock Siegfried, and Ali Fedotowsky. They give advice on being the bachelorette. At the Bachelor mansion, JoJo greets the men as the limos arrive. Memorable moments include: Robby brings a bottle of wine to drink out of, like Jojo's mom; James T. sings a song he wrote for her, while playing his guitar; Wells brings All 4 One who sings "I Swear" to introduce him; Nick B. wears a Santa Claus suit; Chase wears a fake mustache on his face; Jonathan wears a kilt representing his Scottish heritage; and Luke arrives riding on a horse dressed as a unicorn. Daniel is seen taking off his clothes and jumps into the swimming pool, making some of the other men laugh hysterically. Alex, a U.S. Marine, does push-ups while JoJo sits on his back. Nick B. tries to further impress with JoJo as she sits on his lap. Ali plays Beethoven on the piano for JoJo. Luke spends a lot of time talking with JoJo to make a better impression, but JoJo gives the first impression rose to Jordan. Former bachelor Jake Pavelka comes to the mansion at the beginning of the rose ceremony. He turns out to be a family friend of JoJo whom she has known for years, he gives JoJo advice about choosing her husband-to-be. Continuing from the previous episode, the guys are having a pool party inside the mansion instead of the normal cocktail party. Evan fights with the other guys inside the pool. Chris Harrison arrives at the mansion, leaving Chad uncomfortable with his future in the competition. Week 3 Rose Ceremony: Ali, Christian and Nick B. are eliminated. Week 4 Prologue: Chris sends the men to Pittsburgh to meet with JoJo. One-on-One: Luke and JoJo have a relaxing hot tub experience at Nemacolin Woodlands Resort. Afterwards, they attend a concert from Dan + Shay. He receives a rose. Group Date: Grant, Jordan, Chase, Robby, Vinny, Wells, James T., Evan, James F., Derek and Daniel. They take a ferry ride to Heinz Field to meet with JoJo and play football. Professional football players Ben Roethlisberger, Hines Ward and Brett Keisel give them tips and since Jordan knows football very well, he receives a rose. Week 4 Rose Ceremony: Daniel and James F. are eliminated. Afterwards, the remaining men travel to Uruguay. One-on-One: Jordan and JoJo board a yacht to Isla de Lobos and swim with seals. He receives a rose. Group Date: Wells, James T., Chase, Luke, Alex, Derek, Grant and Evan. JoJo accompanies the men to go surfing on Uruguayan sand dunes, but it ends with a torrential rainstorm that cancels their outing. Derek receives the rose and felt reassured.
