The King Loves (Hangul: 왕은 사랑한다; RR: Wangeun Saranghanda) is an upcoming South Korean television series starring Yim Si-wan and Im Yoon-ah. It is based on the novel of the same title by Kim Yi-ryung published on August 19, 2011 by Paranmedia.[1][2][3]

Synopsis

Set in the Goryeo dynasty, it tells the story of a young and ambitious monarch Won (Yim Si-wan) with a desire to conquer; and two people who shape his destiny, childhood friend Rin and a beautiful woman named San (Im Yoon-ah). A tragic romance involving love and ambition ensues between the three characters.

Cast

The crown prince of Goryeo; whose good looks and eloquence hide his cruel and ambitious nature. A tormented man who’s lacking of affection, Won has an insatiable thirst to conquer.
The daughter of the wealthiest man in town; San possesses striking beauty and deadly charm.
Won's childhood friend and bodyguard; an elegant and refined man with an upright nature.

Production

The drama will begin its filming in late 2016 and is scheduled to be broadcast during the first half of 2017.[4][5] It is invested by Chinese company Tencent.[6]
